Trevor decided he wanted more veggies and healthy stuff in his life. And I was getting a little sick of eating like a dude (read: ground beef) all the time. So we tried this recipe from #thugkitchen for roasted chickpea and broccoli burritos and it was AWESOME. Thanks, gangster.

I see you Carl, hiking mountains and such. (at Papago Mountains)

Last Sunday, Carl and I went on a hike around Papago Peak. Afterward, I rewarded him by buying him a Halloween costume. He was thrilled.

What is he going to be, you ask? You’ll have to wait and see.

One whole year.

September marks a few things for Trevor and I.

  • We’ve officially been in Phoenix for one year.
  • I survived my first Arizona desert summer (I had a few doubters). I even did it with the a/c in my car broken. (Take that, doubters.)
  • Trevor’s birthday was last Monday.
  • Treysyde is one year old and doing well, and my full-time position as the Voice Places Community Manager at Voice Media Group is one month old.

Lots has happened in since last September for our friends, too. One of my best friends is now married and another is recently engaged :) One set of Trevor’s best friends got engaged and another had a baby.

This is starting to sound like the blog post of a real world adult. So, I’ll finish it off with some fun pictures of us behaving like college kids at Brittany’s wedding, in San Diego, and at the first U of A football game of the season.

Phoenix sunset —> Phoenix dust storm. Good thing Carl and I got our walk in early.

Dog Days of Summer.

Trevor and his U of A boys are watching their “bat cats” play to win the College World Series, so that means it’s time for me to write a blog post! It’s been absolutely forever since I’ve posted a life update, so here are the last two months summed up in a few words and pictures:

Memorial Day Weekend: We kicked off the start of “summer,” a.k.a. our one season, at a house in the mountains in Prescott with a group of new friends from our apartment complex. It was nice to be surrounded by green pine trees and plenty of fresh air. We laid by the pool, ate amazing grilled food courtesy of our host Jason, and went out to the bars in downtown Prescott — which felt quite a bit like my good old hometown bars on Water St. in Eau Claire. (Carl got to come on vaca too, which he thoroughly enjoyed.)

The boys - Trevor, Corey, and Jason - laying by the pool in Prescott.

Yup, that’s a dead animal head on the bar wall. Feels like home in WI :)

We’ve been spending pretty much every Saturday since by a pool — either our apartment’s, or at John, Megan, and Chelsea’s new place in Chandler. It hasn’t been below 100 degrees for weeks, so it’s basically necessary. It’s a rough life to say the least.

Last weekend was my friend Brittany’s bachelorette party in Vegas, which was fantastic for me to have a weekend getaway with my girls, and Trevor probably enjoyed having the apartment to himself for once.

Now, we’re preparing for our upcoming trip to San Diego and Brittany’s wedding back in WI, both of which are in mid-July. For San Diego, we’ve rented a house near Mission Beach (I think — this will be my first Cali experience, so I’m not really sure where we’re going, I’m just along for the ride). The boys will be participating in an OTL tournament, which they claim stands for Over The Line and that thousands of people play every year. I’m not convinced it’s a real sport, but either way, the girls are going for the beach and the sun, so I’m not too concerned.

Well, since I started writing the Wildcats officially won their baseball championship, so it’s time to wrap things up. Til next time:
